Just a small town
Lots of people with sad frowns
Although it is not known
This town is the place I call my home
It has been that way for years
Leaving it would bring many tears
A small corner store
If only people could buy more
Yes, we are in a depression
Really seeing it would leave a bad impression
Farms and farmers from here to there
Crops growing everywhere
Terrible segregation
Unfortunatly, it is seen throughout the nation
Large families in small houses
Blacks and whites unable to be spouses
Signs telling people what to do
Can you imagine if that were you?
Not many stories to tell
Nothing hidden beneath the shell
Just a small town
Lots of people with sad frowns
Hopefully someday things will change
Until then this is my home on the range
